What Is Access Method, Explain Sequential And Direct Access Method.

Access

1. In general, access refers to the permission, right, or use. If you've been given the rights to use a computer or service you have authorized access and will be granted access when entering your username and password. If you are not approved to access a computer or service you have unauthorized access
2. A channel of communication that is open with a software or hardware device such as a computer floppy drivemodem, orprinter. If the appropriate access cannot be obtained, you will receive an access denied or other error message.
3. Microsoft Access is a database software management program.
4. With linux, the access command checks real user's permissions for a file.
5. See Access company page for further information about theAccess company.

Sequential access

Alternatively referred to as serial accesssequential access is a method of retrieving data from a storage device. With sequential access, the device must read or move through all information up to the point it is attempting to read or write.
A tape drive is an example of a sequential access drive, where the drive must move the tape forward or backward until it reaches its destination. The complete opposite is random access, which can go directly to the location it needs to read or write.

Direct access

1. Sometimes known as machine access or random accessdirect access is a term used to describe the ability of a computer to locate and retrieve data immediately from a storage device without having to start at the beginning and read all information until the requested data is found.
For example, a hard drive is capable of directly accessing data. However, a tape drive must access all information before the requested data is retrieved, which is referred to as sequental access.
2. When referring to a telephone call, see local bypass.
